Why It’s Good to Be a Girl

1.  You can own more than one bath product

2.  You can order a fruity cocktail, or “chick beverage,” when out without question

3.  Strategic flirting for the occasional free coffee or treat

4.  If stuff is really, really heavy, you don’t have to carry it

5.  When all else fails, you can always play the “it’s that time of the month” card and cover a multitude of irrational/moody behavior

6.  You get to be a mommy, and even though there are some parts that come along with this title that are hard, overall it’s pretty much the best

7.  You get to watch chick flics or romantic comedies and admit that you enjoy them in public

8.  Same goes for cheesy love songs, Hallmark commercials and engagement stories

9.  If you like sports, that’s cool, but if you don’t no one starts asking questions about you

10.  You can grow humans

11.  No color of the rainbow if off limits when it comes to wardrobe

12.  You can openly talk about your feelings and even cry in public and no one feels awkward

13.  You get to wear cute underwear

14.  95% of the time you don’t have to open doors

15.  You can sculpt your eyebrows or wax and it doesn’t look wrong

16.  You get to be proposed TO and get to walk down the aisle while he waits (and your ring is prettier :))

17.  You’re strong enough to do it all by yourself but not seen as weak if you say you need help

18.  You can watch TLC marathons

19.  Freedom to moisturize

20.  You get to carry a purse, which means you always have everything you need when you need it without the bulky pockets

So many more things I could add, but I’ll stop for now.  Feel free to add your favs in your comments!

  1. 21. You get girls nights out and they’re fun whether you’re married or single. Hubby never minds because you come home happier than when you left.

  2. You can grow long nails, which are useful tools (e.g., opening plastic packaging, scratching sticky gunk off things/little people, etc.).

  3. You get to take nice, hot baths. Scented with just the right bubbles. You can have candles lit while you exfoliate, scrub and moisturize – no questions asked!!

  4. Amy, I just found your blog…great stuff.

I’m not a girl but would say you are incorrect with one…

#12 – when girls cry in public I feel VERY awkward, probably more awkward than if a guy were crying in public. If a guy is crying I can kick him or something, but if a girl is crying? Heaven only knows how one should react to that!

    1. hee hee hee. maybe in general, crying in public just makes people awkward. especially when you can’t kick the one who’s crying. 🙂
